Architecture can not create community, but buildings and the environment can work as an initiator for the development of a tight knit community. A number of different corridors are used not only as a distributor, but offer enough space for landscape elements and free space furniture, for games an collective gardening. Furthermore they allow ambulance and police cars access to the premise, which is normally only accessible for pedestrians. Each flat is equipped with it’s own private exterior space. The interspace is, by active landscape strategies, turned into an attractive aspect of this project.
In the age based part of the building, on each floor, there are various easily accessible recreation rooms. In this unit, u can find a housing concept with a community for senior citizens. As well as a second hybrid model, where a community for elderly people is combined with a sitting room, where more intensive care is accessible if possible.
With this large number of flat types and various optional features, like garden, balcony, patio, varying entrances, different types of user groups can be allured.
Regionally produced materials, shall preserve the local context and serve as foundation for a modern and attractive architecture. Thereby, the production- and transport-costs can be minimized. Solar panels allow the use of renewable energy and the reduction of required fossil fuels. The project accentuates the indigenous flora and the creation of living space. As well as a playful interaction of people of all age groups in private and public space.
